Addiction is a Mental IllnessOnce an addict, always an addict
I grew up surrounded by people who threw themselves into drugs and alcohol to escape the realities of their lives, or with the hopes that their addiction might finally kill them.
Alcohol and narcotics are two of the most dangerous addictions we come in contact within our lives, and also, two of the most tempting ones to delve into.
Few can say that they haven't had a drink after a bad day, or perhaps popped a pill, smoked a spliff, to relax after stressful times. However, while many are able to have a taste and stay in control, many are not so lucky. Addictions come without real warning, what starts out as fun and recreational use can turn into severe addiction, and once you're in, it's almost impossible to find a way out.
Addictions are not to be romanticized
The romanticizing of addictions has always been incredibly common. Movies often make it look "badass", people want to be that cool edgy kid who's experienced it

Closing this group
Hello all,
It's with a lot of sadness, but also a level head that I announce this group will now be closed to submissions. We simply do not have the admins and time required to run it properly. Furthermore, the community has changed over the years, and the artwork we could easily collect in the past has now dwindled away. Perhaps we will re-open the group again in the future, but until then, goodbye all and keep making drop dead intense artwork while we're gone!
New admins needed!
Hey guys,
This group has been slowly dying out and I apologize for that! The vision I had when I first founded it has slowly been going away, as the community seems to have changed a lot over the years. However, I'd really like to see this group continue to strive, and perhaps simply adapt to all the changes that have happened over the years!
If you would like to help out the group by voting on submissions regularly, please send us a note answering the following questions:
1) What are some examples of works you find suitable for this group? (send us thumbnails)
2) How frequently would you be able to vote for the group?
3) Why would you lik

Not only is it romanticized but it is also played for comedic effect which doesn't bother me too much but after a while, when done by somebody who has never suffered an addiction it becomes less and less amusing. It should also be brought to attention that people (like myself) who suffer from mental illness are extremely susceptible and vulnerable to drug addiction. I do not wish to generalize by saying that as anybody really is susceptible to drug addiction but it distresses me greatly to know that people who are suffering feel that their only outlet is to medicate themselves in some way. Addiction runs in both sides of my family and my uncle died about five years ago due to alcohol poisoning. He carried with him a great deal of emotional bagagge but I can't help but feel that if he had gotten the help he so desperately needed he might still be alive today!
